Smoking and global warming

From a hotel room in central Jakarta, the Indonesian news agency Pena describes the development of the tobacco industry today in its final report. This report is in the form of a 65-page magazine with the title on the front page of “Hypocrisy and Myths Behind the Tobacco Industry.”

Pena Indonesia claims that this report is based on investigative reports on various tobacco industry search documents. It also includes two CDs or a CD containing thousands of documents from the multinational industry in Indonesia. As documents of British American Tobacco or BAT, Philips Morris and others.

The workshops were attended by journalists and health activists. The aim is to provide insight into the existence of secret documents related to the arrival of the giants of the world tobacco industry and its relationship with Indonesia.

This workshop also received support from the WHO World Health Agency, representatives of Indonesia, the IAKMI-Association of Indonesian Public Health Specialists and the SEATCA-Tobacco Control Alliance in Southeast Asia.

Pena Indonesia worked for three months and glanced through the computer. Digging thousands of documents online from seven giant cigarettes recorded between the 1960s and early 2000s. At least about 28,000 more documents from British American Tobacco or BAT Indonesia are stored in digital libraries at the University of California, San Francisco.

The walk also takes place in the Legacy Tobacco Documents Documents web library which contains an internal document by Philips Morris, RJ Reynolds, Lorillard and Brown & Williamson. Farid Gaban and Alfian Hamzah from the Pena Indonesia news agency and Mardiyah Chamim from Tempo magazine report and write about the result. Coverage and support in the form of grants from the Essential Action Global Partnership for Tobacco Control based in Washington.

This story began in 1998. This year is perhaps listed in the most amazing American cigarette industry. The Attorney General of the State of Minnesota, United States, Hubert Humphrey III, blew a loud warning to the cigarette industry. The state’s attorney asked the seven greats of the smoking industry to open all their secret documents to the public. The goal is to find the truth.

These documents are internal documents that contain various letters to the authorities, scientists, media tricks to encourage the tobacco business. Seven giant companies, among others, are from Philip Morris Incorporated, RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company, British American Tobacco (BAT), Brown and Williamson, Ligget Group and The Tobacco Institute and the Tobacco Research Council and Lorillard Tobacco Company.

U.S. courts have six million documents with 35 million pages. Each page has a stamp and code of industry lawyers to ensure authenticity. The court also requires the tobacco industry parties to correct the documents by 2008.

While you are in England, mountains of British American tobacco documents are usually kept in a warehouse in Guilford, Surrey, England. BAT archiving of network documents is performed by the University of California, San Francisco, United States.

There are seven million documents in the form of scanned documents. And they spent about four years putting in the effort for their hard work. Unfortunately, according to Duncan Cambell, an American investigative journalist who helped search the documents of the smoking industry, the claim that there are about 181 files containing thousands of pages of documents was lost. These missing documents are not clear and a possible rimbania is linked to regions of other countries, such as Indonesia.

One of the investigations of this American smoking industry created the film “Insider”, which talks about the search by which an American television journalist discovers fraud in toxin levels. The media in the United States to encourage and influence people to be threatened by smoking. Cigarettes became a civil issue and then prompted the birth of strict smoking regulations.

The tobacco industry needs to be controlled and strictly controlled. For owners of the American tobacco industry, it is not a condition of a good climate. And ask the U.S. government for strict rules that only apply in the United States. And it does not apply to international business networks in different parts of other countries. The invasion is ongoing after 1998. And the targets of cigarette owners are countries entering groups of third countries.

How do countries in the region, especially Indonesia in cooperation with the document? Indonesia belonged to a third country, right? Indonesia is a land tender and haven for the world tobacco industry. The tobacco industry in Indonesia was embodied and was like its own “kingdom”. He played many roles and automatic movements do not get a lot of obstacles and barriers.

Be it legal, economic, social on a political path. The smoking industry in Indonesia has grown rapidly and slipped. Taking into account the largest daily newspaper in West Java, the People’s Mind, the tobacco industry as “expanding and taking root”. There is not much media in Indonesia to criticize, especially preaching to give a profound statement regarding the cigarette industry. With the open field, Indonesia has gained every movement, ideas and influence of the tobacco industry on the extensive development of the business.

We can learn a lot from documents on the tobacco industry. Learn how they work, determine your position, and influence policymakers, economic, media, until the “buy-sell” survey passes. The document is clear and detailed. We just need to work hard, carefully detail and make sheets of documents to get a complete picture of the building of the world tobacco industry as a whole.

According to institutions in Thailand dealing with the Alliance for Tobacco Control in Southeast Asia, in their report “Profit from Death: Exposing the Tobacco Industry Tactics in ASEAN Countries, October 2007”, it was explained that so far cigarette consumption in that region has been about 50 percent of world tobacco consumption. And Asia is considered an important market future for the world tobacco industry.

While 10 countries have joined ASEAN, approximately 31 percent or 125.8 million of ASEAN’s young youth smoke. Or about 10 percent – 1.25 billion – of the number of young smokers in the world continues to grow, and the country joining ASEAN has contributed to the death rate from smoking as much as 20 percent!

SEATCA is a partner network of government agencies that has merged into ASEAN, which undertakes research, advocacy and capacity building in all its members. SEATCA works and builds an advocacy mission on its members who have ratified the WHO Convention on Tobacco Control over the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) – including Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia and Vietnam. While Indonesia is the only country in Asia that has not ratified these conventions so far.

The WHO Tobacco Control Convention is crucial for application in the cigarette industry in Indonesia. This Convention shall regulate and control the tobacco industry. The convention contains about 38 articles aimed at improving the quality of global health.

Business development for the transition of the tobacco industry is not in the form of a single strategic. The business strategy will monitor the situation in each area of development. He has worked on organizing and defining target groups, facilitating policy policies that support good business coming from the government or MPs, working with anyone to make promotional efforts and forming a full market.

The tobacco industry builds its image in different ways. The advertisement creates direct communication with consumers by placing cigarettes through posters, print ads and electronic media, posters, accessories, colors and logos that cause the image of tobacco products.

Promotional activities by distributing free cigarette samples, offering coupons, competitions, lotteries, tickets to watch sports games and races, music concerts, film financing, talk shows, street entertainment for his activities in the form of corporate social responsibility or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) which supports scholarships, environmental projects and other activities under the name of a company or under the name of tobacco industry products. The inclusion of scholarships for journalists and school children is a success.

SEATCA survey on the control status of promotion, advertising, CSR and sponsorship rules in seven ASEAN countries in 2007. Including Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Five countries have fairly strict rules governing the issuance of advertisements, promotions, sponsorships and CSR.

These five countries include Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand. Of these five countries, Thailand has very strict rules against the tobacco industry and holds strict restrictions. The two most favorable, without rules, without control and without restrictions are Cambodia and Indonesia!

Cambodia and Indonesia are a haven for the tobacco industry. The two countries are a relatively poor country, right? Indonesia is estimated to have a poverty rate of 49 percent and the average cost of living in America of two dollars a day. Both have no rules and restrictions closely regulate tobacco control issues.

They are the most profitable opportunities for the tobacco industry. The cigarette industry has all the strength and capital to improve its business and maximize profits. The industry offers a dream potion and promotional advertising to the public to lift themselves out of poverty.

And offer in words suggestive ads and interesting success. This is a dream and a dream for all people. The success of the tobacco industry by offering a cigarette. Giving tobacco is one of the main ways for every person to get rid of poverty and manage to live quickly.

Poverty has become a country for profit. And the industry was well aware of this situation. Poverty, lack of regional representation and the role of government, lack of political awareness and the role of the media are powerless in cigarette advertising.

Data on Nielsen show that in 2006, advertising expenditures for the tobacco sector amounted to Rs 1.6 trillion. Which moronic media would lose and offer money for that? One media outlet in Indonesia may be aware and choose not to accept tobacco ads. But the question is to what extent will the power of this medium survive? And refrain from cigarette advertising attacks.

Cigarettes have become the main consumption for the poor. Cigarette consumption throughout the year reached 225 billion sticks. Cigarettes contain 4,000 toxic chemicals. And cigarettes are the leading cause of diseases that cause cancer, heart disease and other diseases that cause death in the long run. Every year people die as it indicates cigarettes cause as many as 400,000 in Indonesia!

The number of smokers in Indonesia has risen sharply. According to a national economic survey conducted by the Central Bureau of Statistics in the period 2001-2004, there was an increase in the number of beginner and under-10 smokers, which increased by 0.4 percent, to 2.8 percent. The National Child Protection Commission also gets a number that 90 percent of teenagers smoke because of advertising in Indonesia. Teenagers have become a major target of the tobacco industry.

This figure is worrying and then in February 2007 several members of the legislature came up with certain rules to restrict smoking. These rules are expected to limit, control, and restrict tobacco issues involving the activities of young children. This rule also requires a 60 percent increase in excise duties on cigarettes, to reduce people who buy cigarettes. And she was encouraged to expand research on the impact of smoking on health.

In 1999, Indonesia passed Government Decree 81/1999 on health cigarettes, Government Decree 38/1999 on procedures for advertising tobacco products and Government Decree 19/2003 on the obligations of cigarette manufacturers to include warnings on product packaging.

Indonesia has also benefited from this condition. The contribution of the cigarette industry sector in the form of tax revenue in the amount of 38.5 trillion Rp last year. This year, too, it is expected to increase to 42 billion Rp.

The cigarette business in Indonesia is very sweet. Two Indonesian families operating in the cigarette ranks on Forbes magazine’s richest list in the world. The Rachman Halim family, including owners of Gudang Garam, with assets worth $ 1.9 billion and warns of 538 warnings. Be Hartono and the Djarum 664 family with assets worth $ 1.5 billion.

Indonesian cigarette tax is generally cheap compared to other countries. Australia, Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore have set a 70 per cent tax on cigarettes. While you’re in Indonesia, just set the highest cigarette tax at 40 percent. With this tax rate, the retail price of cigarettes in Indonesia is one fifth of the price of cigarettes in Malaysia.

The price of cheap cigarettes is increasing smokers in Indonesia. Access to cigarettes is very easy. According to a recent survey by the WHO and the American Cancer Society, about 70 percent of Indonesian smokers are men. And 3 percent of women smoke Indonesia.

Indonesia plays a double role in delusion. On one side is the income he earned from cigarettes, but on the other hand many Indonesia will lose their human resources due to the damage caused by cigarettes. But a health insurance company in Indonesia that would guarantee his client about the consequences of smoking?

The world of the anti-smoking campaign continues to grow stronger. Rich countries and educated aware of the dangers of smoking. The anti-smoking movement is getting stronger and try to campaign on the issue at the level of the global movement. The Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) and even signed an agreement with the WHO to regulate and ban tobacco sponsorship on the football field.

MTV supports the anti-smoking campaign and appealed to teenagers not to smoke. Countries in Europe and other Asia and ratifying the convention have monitored tobacco control (FCTC).

But resistance to the cigarette industry in Indonesia is still weak. The anti-smoking movement, both for citizens and doctors, including the media, is still strong. WHO Indonesia has selected several names of artists and athletes for the national anti-smoking sports campaign. Among tennis champion Angelique Widjaja, bodybuilder Ada Rai and model Tracy Trinita.

But not enough to represent all three and move Indonesia’s residents to establish an anti-smoking movement. Indonesia needs a great figure and a constant movement to fight smoking. Not just the anti-smoking course slogan. But the anti-smoking movement is broad and strategic.

In short, the anti-smoking movement in Indonesia is still classified as powerless. It needs strength and strong strength to stop the strong and aggressive opposition of the tobacco industry. And the journalist is to write a movement and continue to oversee the spread of logging from the cigarette industry.

The advertising and propaganda war is taking place in the fight of the world of black smoke. And Indonesia is a powerful battleground for mapping the world of today’s global cigarette. This also applies to the local cigarette industry in Indonesia. As a local industry in Duh, Malang, Jember and Kediri. The local cigarette industry in Indonesia has also played an important role in influencing the smoking community.

In Indonesia, known as a cigarette snack while smoking outside a product known as white smoke. The local cigarette industry is a small king of tobacco, and many are in Java. The expansion of the world tobacco industry bosses are aggressive and strong and are trying to control the current market share. White cigar cigar cigarettes are struggling.

Who is the most powerful? The smoking industry builds myths, facts and misconceptions about smoking. And we know that the health of everyday citizens is declining for the victims of the battle. Indonesia and countries are allowing the health of their citizens to fall.

The facts about the dangers of cigarettes and the propaganda of the dark tobacco industry are clear. Cigarettes are not for compromise, but should be controlled and regulated by the government and the legislature. Indonesian society should be aware that cigarettes are now becoming an alarming epidemic.

The event will end in 2007, Indonesia has been selected for a global debate on global warming. It came to Bali in December. Global debates are very important for discussing and taking strategic steps related to the issue of global warming and the environment. Indonesia is also classified as bad in the environment.

Indonesia, including areas prone to red in environmental matters such as illegal logging, mining, industrial pollution and motor vehicle waste emissions. This global debate will produce decisions and policies are very important. The result will encourage all heads of state and citizens to support and implement strategic measures to combat global warming today.

I was shocked when he read the daily newspaper, the National Journal. At the bottom of the column are ads at the head of the page pasted on the later implementation of global warming. With dominant ads with a light green color that is close to iconic environmental issues.

This print ad includes a statement or countdown days in December 2007. These ads also bear the name of the Sampoerna cigarette and have the word “Green” which could also be interpreted as one of the main products of the Sampoerna cigarette.

I am sad to see that the debate on global warming will have to get the sponsorship of the tobacco industry. The business and its profits are mostly from Indonesia. Maybe I continue to dissolve the sadness and be a voice lost and forgotten in the noisy unrest of the events of global warming later.

This should be an important note, just a mirror and it becomes a matter for all of us. Environmental issues are common issues. He deviated from his conscience and our common sense. What is the value of a global warming event coming from a tobacco company? Cigarettes, however, are a toxin and one of the leading causes of death. Isn’t there anything wrong with a global warming program stemming from the tobacco industry?

A bunch of internal documents of the tobacco industry gave a clear answer. Problems of tactics, plans, strategies, political lobbying, and building awareness of mistake and dirty cigarettes.

I am very sorry for the critical discussions on global warming, there are stains and thorns. This becomes a wedge and a slap on the clichés of the world. It’s as if life and life unfold and start with cigarettes.

Cigarette syllable is not an oral service. And the strength in Indonesia’s cigarette industry points to that fact. And that is not true. The tobacco industry creates traps and myths. Cigarettes are an important issue for humanity. The life of the world of cigarettes is full of the power of compromise, deception and dark strategy.

And it is probably true in the world fight of cigarettes, as Ben Jonson wrote long ago in the book The Alchemist, that “Alchemy was a kind of game, like a card trick, to deceive a man with great charm.”

Why are MLB players always hurt in a stupid way?

Hangnails, paper cuts, screams in the neck … awkward and painful little things for everyone, but really those little things are nothing special, we can trim the hangnail, the band helps us cut and start screaming in a few minutes. But professional baseball players are different. In MLB, we always seem to hear players missing the game for something we would think of as trivial. Like Ubald Jiminez, who was placed on DL last year because of the hangar. Either they get hurt in stupid ways, sacrificing playing time for which they are paid millions.

Pirates with tiles on their hands are considered serious enough to be able to sit a few games on the disability list because it can really affect their throwing. Pitcher Clay Buchholz apparently has a chronic bladder problem according to the Boston Red Sox DL, and last year in an interview with NBC Hardball it was reported that Kerry Wood of the Chicago Cubs broke through the bladder (and was fine) before putting it on on DL at about a week, Although we know that blisters can be painful, players can definitely play just because of it.

What’s more humorous, there have historically been a few pretty ridiculous injuries the players have sustained. Sammy Sosa once sneezed violently in the excavations and missed the rest of the game due to back cramps. Matt Latos stretched his left side holding back a sneeze … who knows what would have happened if he had let go! Russel Branyan once pierced his toe as he closed the curtains at his hotel and was on DL for two days in 2010. Ken Griffey Jr. he missed the game when his glass slipped and stabbed his testicles, and in 1990, Glenallen Hill striker, the Blue Jays rookie at the time could not play the game because he was injured while trying to escape a nightmare about spiders.

So there are understandable, pathetic and simple silly injuries in baseball. It’s not like we ever hear NFL, NBA or NHL players do something like this a little bit and don’t play through it. Muscle tears and surgeries and broken bones are another ball game (punishment intended), but please MLB … a hanging stick or a pricked toe? Looks like it’s time to tighten up.

Infidelity – from doubt to proof

Who hasn’t read statistics on the prevalence of infidelity at one time or another? Who among us, if ever suspicious of our spouse, hasn’t found himself on the thousands of “Signs of a Cheated Spouse” list that are so prevalent on the Internet these days?

It has nothing to do with statistics – they are based on other people’s numbers. And “Signs of a cheating spouse”, by themselves, do not prove anything. What we don’t find, read or listen to is – “What should I do if I suspect my husband is cheating on me?”

As a private detective who has worked with thousands of people over the years, and many have suspected infidelity, I would like to offer just a few suggestions:

Keep an open mind. Most of the signs of a spouse cheating on the Internet today can probably be explained by factors that have nothing to do with the affair. Even seemingly harmful evidence can sometimes be convincingly explained. In one case of mine, my husband found another man’s underwear in a drawer and was stunned by this alleged evidence of his infidelity. In the end, it was determined that the underwear belonged to my client’s mother-in-law, who spent the previous weekend in the couple’s house.

In my own practice, I have found that at least 25% of my clients make mistakes because of their doubts. These were clients who were relatively confident in the affair before hiring me. What I discover from time to time is that the “other woman” is actually a bar stool in a local tavern, a friend with whom the wife no longer wants her husband to hang out, or even a place in a local casino. On other occasions, the “cheating spouse” has not cheated, but rather prepares to leave the marriage.

While you may need to follow your doubts to calm your mind, it is essential that you do so with an open mind.

Don’t clash with your wife. Conflict, without evidence, serves no purpose. Think for a moment – a person who is willing to cheat on their spouse is probably the one who is willing to lie about it when asked. At the same time, no one will admit to an affair they don’t have. In both scenarios, the answer will be the same: “No honey, I have no affair.” The conflict only serves to inform the spouse that you are suspicious. If your spouse cheats on you, your conflict will only harm your ability to conduct any meaningful future investigation.

Save the confrontation when you know what is true.

Behave normally. None of us care about fools, and our ego often demands that we stand up and declare, “I’m not an idiot – I know what you’re doing.” But, just like the conflict above, a statement like this only serves to warn cheaters that you have become suspicious. This, in turn, will make it more difficult to obtain evidence of an affair because your spouse finds it harder to conceal their activities. Best for you, as long as you are interested to get to the bottom of doubt, play the role of a fool. Smile – be charming (unless it’s normal for you) – be your normal self. You want your spouse to think you expect nothing.

If, like many people, you just can’t hide your despair through this emotional trial time – consider offering a compelling explanation for your behavior (e.g., “Oh, I’m just stressed about work, that’s all.”

Be selective in whom you share your doubts. During such an emotionally stressful time, you may find the need to talk to someone sympathetic to your concerns; This is a normal and natural need and can be a healthy place for your stress. But keep in mind that people are prone to dealing with people they meet in everyday life – i.e. colleagues at work, a neighbor by the door, your best friend’s spouse, your best friend, your same-sex sister, etc. For that reason, it is absolutely imperative not to share their doubts with anyone who might be part of the problem. I address all of my clients, “Tell the whole world you hired PI when I’m done, but calm him down by then.” I ruined too many cases because of clients who trusted the wrong person.

If you absolutely have to share your concerns with others – do it with a friend who lives in another country, a trained counselor or another person so distant (geographically, preferably) that they could never get involved. But remember – this person will probably find the need to tell someone they trust. And that person will find the need to tell someone they have confidence and so on. Be extremely careful who you trust in the end.

Assess your relationship. You will probably be asked some rather difficult questions during this discovery process; I would suggest you include, “What do I really want from this relationship?” on your list of questions.

Too often people become so overwhelmed with looks that they are “victims” of infidelity that they don’t stop wondering if they actually care about the marriage or relationship perhaps ending. It’s no more obvious to me than when I get a call from an angry wife who spends time on the phone with me lamenting that her husband is “… a liar, cheating, unsuccessfully, a sociopathic loser – she was always too much” instead of discussing her suspicions of infidelity. Another time I am asked to supervise my fiancé just before the wedding. My question is always, “If you have to hire a PI to find out if your fiancé is cheating on you, then why are you getting married at all?”

You base your decisions on what you want to happen in your relationship – not on the fact that you may be a victim of infidelity. Ask yourself, “Whether my husband cheated on me or not – do I still want to be with this person?”

Prepare for what may happen. You may be 100% committed in a marriage, even if you eventually find out that your spouse is in a relationship, but that doesn’t mean the spouse is equally committed. It takes two to get married, and if your spouse has some connection, you can be sure that it will probably be due to some unmet needs from the marriage that your spouse may not be interested in dealing with with you.

While you may not be interested in preparing for a divorce or divorce at this time, that doesn’t mean your spouse isn’t. I watched more than a few “subjects” actively preparing for life after marriage (e.g., opening separate bank accounts, looking for an apartment, etc.). Now may be a good time to take some basic steps to prepare for an outcome that is not your choice.

Consider taking some time to copy your address book, make copies of important documents, photograph property in the house, open a credit card in your own name, open a check or savings account in your own name, change passwords to access your voicemail or Internet accounts, copy precious negatives and photographs, etc. Most of this documentation, including photographs, can fit on a single CD and should be stored outside the residence you share with your spouse. If you think about it – many of these steps should have been taken a long time ago to prepare for a house fire that could happen to any of us.

A word of warning here – don’t bother. Courts generally disrespect those who go so far as to empty utility checks and savings accounts, change door locks, or otherwise deprive the other spouse of access to marital assets and property. Plus, you’re not actually planning a divorce – you’re just trying to be prepared if your spouse suddenly and unilaterally breaks off the relationship for the two of you.

Investigate the laws. Most people who seek my supervisory services do so out of a “need for knowledge”. They already know (or believe they know), because of the no-fault divorce law in my state, that the courts will not award them a big-screen TV and a nice couch / love seat combination only if they can prove that their spouse is having an affair. However, this does not always negate their need for legal advice.

If you are deciding whether to divorce (as opposed to working on your marriage) or just want to know how you would fare if your spouse makes such a decision, perhaps you should take this opportunity to research divorce laws in the state where you reside. How will the assets be divided? Will it help you at all if you could show that your spouse is in a relationship? Who is likely to get custody of the children? What about marital or child support?

You can do some of these rudimentary studies for free without leaving your home. There is a wealth of information available to you over the Internet by simply typing in your state name and “divorce” or “child custody” in your favorite search engine (e.g., “Minnesota Divorce” or “Minnesota Child Custody”). Of course, this research should be considered only “preliminary”. Sit down to talk to a lawyer if you think you will finally decide (or your spouse may decide) to move forward with the termination of the marriage.

Gather evidence. Now is the time to start documenting your evidence of a possible affair and recording your suspicions. Consider either writing things down or entering details into a password-protected document on your computer. Don’t rely on your memory.

I do not recommend that anyone actually go out and try to conduct an investigation or surveillance on their own – these are things that are very well left to your professional investigator for very good reasons. But now is the time to record the times and dates of suspicious activity to notice patterns, strange phone numbers appearing on caller ID units or cell phone call history, discrepancies between actual odometer readings and mileage readings at the employee and spouse location, etc. As strange as it may seem, you should also keep notes of times and events that are not suspicious to you. For example, while you can trust a spouse to travel to another state for a business meeting next Wednesday, they don’t necessarily have to. Only after the affair is fully revealed will some of those other details be seen in a different light.

Now is the time to gather other details that may become useful to the detective if they decide that an investigation becomes necessary. This information may include your spouse’s place of employment, employer’s address, your spouse’s car license plate, names and addresses of spouses’ friends and family members, photos or jpgs of your spouse, names and details of someone you think your spouse may see (ie. address, vehicle data, etc.). Don’t wait until the last possible moment to start gathering those facts; you want to start assembling them now to be ready if the need to move forward arrives.

Consider hiring a licensed private investigator. Whether you choose to hire a private detective should be based on a number of different factors – not least your psychological “need to know,” your ability to afford an investigator, and the need for a licensed professional to document evidence of affair for legal purposes.

Avoid the temptation to try to follow your spouse on your own. Even with 20 years of supervision experience, I would be the last person to try to follow my own wife if I thought she was having an affair; I would have to hire another PI to do the work for me. This is partly due to the fact that none of us are invisible. When you follow someone in the car, you will inevitably find yourself right behind him or her when they stop at a traffic light. Get ready to wave to your spouse when he looks in the mirror and sees who’s in the car behind them! A private detective can get away with it – being in the vehicle right behind him or at a traffic light, and even sitting in a boat next to the spouse if necessary, because he sees the cheated spouse as “just another” Joe. “

It’s also a big mistake to have a friend play the role of a PI. Contrary to what some think, there is much more to exercising discreet surveillance than simply sitting in a car for a few hours and then following your spouse around town. Spouses who cheat are wary of being caught and many take steps to confirm they are not following them. Your friend is unlikely to have the necessary skills to maintain contact with his or her spouse, while reassuring him or her not to follow him or her. Get caught, and you will jeopardize any future surveillance efforts (even by professionals), reveal to your spouse that you suspect, and potentially create some legal issues for yourself and a friend, depending on the laws in your state.

I probably won’t be able to help you with your investigative needs unless they include surveillance in Minnesota. However, you are likely to look for a qualified and competent local investigator in your area if you take the time to review. Finding it is as simple as opening a directory of yellow pages or conducting an Internet search of private investigators through a favorite search engine (e.g., “Private Detective Minnesota,” “Private Investigator Minneapolis,” etc.).

I would recommend that you choose an investigator from your area – not a national outfit that declares “investigators in your area”. Make sure the detective agency has local mail. You will also make sure they are licensed, required and insured. And finally – make sure they specialize in conducting supervision.

Discuss it. If, because of all your worries, you find that your spouse is not having an affair (and I hope you will), you will spend the equivalent of most of the day reading some online remedies, talking to an investigator. or two, and making copies of those important documents and photos that you should have copied a long time ago for unrelated reasons. So far, you have re-examined your relationship and desire to do things (or not) and you have had – at worst, trust a friend or relative regarding your unfounded suspicions. Now it’s time to get rid of those notes about the spouse, scatter the PI business card and invoice (if you’ve gone that far) and tell your trustee to keep it to yourself. It’s also a time to think about what made you believe it was an affair in the first place.

For others, it’s time to “face” the problem after there’s incredible evidence of an affair. But you do so until there is a possibility that additional investigation or oversight will be needed.

Keep in mind that when we face people, we often put them in defense – “What ?! You hired a PI to follow me ?! How dare you!” This is usually because the spouse is caught “off guard” and doesn’t know how to react to a fact you know about the affair. After all, you didn’t give any prior indication that you knew what was going right?

Some of my clients reported success in ordering their spouse to confess to the affair, discussing infidelity in a “real way” after they first gave a cheating spouse that they warned that the issue would be resolved in the near future.

On the day you decide to talk about things with your spouse, tell him or her, “I know about your relationship. I want to talk to you about it after work.” Then leave it and walk or lower it. This gives the spouse time to think about how they will handle things. In many cases, they will return home and admit an affair to which they would not admit that he was otherwise pushed against the wall. Some cheating spouses are actually relieved if they are caught.

Don’t reveal everything you know. For some of my clients, it is tempting to reveal my investigative reports to my spouse, along with photos taken from a videotape, as they shout, “Look at this!” However, this is the last thing you should do.

The investigation report is prepared so that you have the evidence needed to make informed decisions. He is not ready to prove to his spouse that he has an affair. After all – your spouse already knows what the facts are.

When we tell someone what we know, we inadvertently tell him or her as much as we don’t know. For example, let’s say you confront your wife with videotapes as she enters a hotel with another man, and an investigative report (no video or photos) detailing her dinner with the same man two weeks before. What you’re actually telling your wife by revealing that evidence is that you don’t know how she traveled with a man to Bermuda when she said she was on a business trip to Minneapolis. You just told her you had no evidence of that affair before dinner two weeks ago. You told her you had no evidence that she kissed her lover in the car after dinner. You told her you had no idea how she spent the day with that man the day before the hotel meeting. You told her, laying your cards on the table, how much you don’t know. After all, if you knew the other facts – why not face them too? Where are the reports detailing these facts?

Armed with an investigative report in the above hypothetical situation, the wife is likely to admit to having dinner with her Platonic “friend” and the fact that she walked into the hotel with him two weeks later. She could explain very well, “But he’s just a friend. We didn’t do anything but talk. He’s going through a hard time and he wanted to get my advice. I knew you wouldn’t understand and that it would have looked bad, so I didn’t tell you. You don’t believe it. we – you always accuse me of the worst. What about you? And besides – how dare you hire a PI to violate my privacy anyway! “

Keep your evidence to yourself. That is your proof – not your spouse ‘. Your knowledge is your strength. Your spouse not knowing how much you know is your power. Consider instead (using the hypothetical situation above) telling your spouse something like, “Cindy, I know you’re having an affair with Dan. I’m not interested in talking about how I know or how much I know. What I need to know is if you’re willing to end the relationship and work on to this marriage – which will require you to reveal everything to me or will you rather hide the details and make excuses, in which case is this marriage Do you want to tell me about it? “

How you decide to deal with your own particular doubts will ultimately depend on you. While you may feel completely alone as you struggle to find answers, realize that the above advice comes not so much from me, but from countless others – people like you, who have come before you.

Good luck.

Costa Rica’s hot spot is Arenal Volcano, La Fortuna

Costa Rica is known for its volcanoes, and the most famous is the most active: the Arenal volcano.

Arrival in La Fortuna

You can reach the Arenal Volcano by bus, and an hour from San Jose at Atlantico Norte Station at 12 Calle Street (12th Street). You want the bus to San Carlos. If you rented a car, it’s a beautiful drive from San José. And you will pass two excellent side points: Zarcero and San Carlos.

If you are driving, take the Međimurje motorway from San José to Puntarenas. Take the Naranjo-Ciudad Quesada exit. Zarcero is about a 90-minute drive from San José. Zarcero is a strange and beautiful town located in the mountains, at 1,700 meters above sea level. You will find the best cheese in Zarcer, so be sure to stop and pick up some Queso blanco (white cheese) which is my favorite cheese. Zarcero is very green with lots of vegetation and farms. A popular stop is the sculpture in the city. This guy makes beautiful sculptures of giant bushes. So you will see rabbits, oxen from oxen and much more carved out of these huge bushes.

I recommend you eat at Doña Chila’s, they serve typical Costa Rican food and it’s delicious! It is located just before you reach Zarcer. Here you will also see many suppliers selling fruits and cheeses from their small stalls – don’t forget to buy some Queso blanco.

Head now from Zarcer to San Carlos. Ciudiad Quesada is a shopping mall in the San Carlos Plain in the central province of Alajuela. This is the center of the northern zone. Depending on how much time you have, there is a nice Forrest reservation called Termales del Bosque. The ticket is 8 USD. Nice hiking and have thermal pools which are fantastic hot spring pools. From Ciudiada Quesada you will see signposts to La Fortuna and the volcano Aerenal. Just follow the signs. The total driving time from San Jose is about 3-1 / 2 hours.

Arenal Volvano, Travel Tips La Fortuna

Volcan Arenal has been active since 1968. It has a perfectly shaped cone that protrudes from Mount Alajuela. You can hear loud explosions and gray clouds of mushrooms emanating from the top of the volcano. You can also see boulders erupting the volcano and collapsing down the slopes. At night you can watch a good lion show. Now this doesn’t happen every time and many times thick fogs and clouds block your visibility. So sometimes you can’t even see the volcano, so I would call one of the hotels nearby and ask about visibility.

Be aware that there is a possibility that you will not see anything because of the clouds. The chances are even worse during the rainy season. Although, even during the dry season, clouds can still block your view – the best chance is to see lava flows and red stone thunderstorms erupt. I’ve been there many times and only twice got a big show. But going to La Fortuna is still worth it even if your chances of seeing a lava show are 50/50.

To maximize your chances of staying in one of the “observatory” lodges built for the best view of the volcano. Late at night or early dawn is the best choice to catch a lava show.

There are many hiking trails in the area to the observatory. From the station at the entrance to the park you can choose two trails, and one leads to the mountain volcano Chato which is extinct. It collapsed on itself and now the lake in the crater is surrounded by forest. You can access it by a hiking trail near the Arenalmirador (observatory) where you can watch the lava flow. There is a beautiful waterfall where you can go swimming, and it is called Catarata La Fortuna which is Spanish for La Fortuna waterfall.

Other activities include horseback riding and a canopy tour. Thermal pools are the best. These are hot springs. The Tabacon Lodge is a great place to relax in the hot spring thermal waters. You can get a daily passage to their pools which are built around the thermal waters. So, you are swimming in these naturally warm waters of the volcano. From here you can also get a view of the cone of the volcano. They have five natural mineral pools at different temperatures, one with a swimming jet, a water slide and a waterfall. They also have a Tico food restaurant and several bars. The cost is about $ 30 for a daily pass.

Be sure to see Cataratas Rio Fortuna. It is a beautiful waterfall located in a rainforest near the edge of the Arenal Volcano National Park. Admission is $ 1.50. You have to hike the canyon which can be challenging, but the reward is views of the beautiful waterfall and diving into the natural pool. The average temperature in this area is 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

Another beautiful place in this area is Lake Arenal which is a large accumulation lake at the foot of a volcano along the Guancaste hills. Many people enjoy rowing and fishing on the lake. Surfing is very popular here – you can rent surfing equipment if you wish.

Beneath the lake is old Arenal, a city that was submerged in the 1970s after being destroyed by a volcanic eruption in the 1960s. The most recent eruption was in 1968. Two villages were destroyed and over 80 people died. There has been some activity in recent years, but nothing like 1968. Before 1968, the volcano had been dormant for 400 years.

The La Fortuna area is one of my favorite attractions in Costa Rica.

Plants as a metaphor for change

David Bowie wrote a song about it. Barnes and Noble have numerous books on the subject. And, Netflix has at least thirty movies that promise to do so after you watch them. What do musicians, booksellers and electricity services have in common? To change. I’ve heard him say it takes twenty-one days to change a habit – maybe, maybe not. Change, in itself, is a reality and there are many ways to deal with change.

How do we see changes in our own lives? Sometimes the change can be so small that it seems like nothing is happening. Think about it – losing weight or quitting smoking. It can feel like taking 5 steps forward and 10 steps back. Other times change can be brutal and rapid. Think – an unexpected death, illness or a visitor from someone’s past. Maybe one of those situations resonated with you and created changes in your life. Many of us know how to measure changes in life: pounds lost on the scales, number of days without smoking, how many days of exercise, etc.

But what about the change that is constantly happening around us? How can we see it and how can we use it? In January 2011, I started aggressive chemotherapy and was denied what the drugs would do to me. I knew I was going to lose my hair and although I read about all the other side effects, I thought, “No, I’m in good shape, it’s not going to happen to me.” I was wrong.

About a month after starting treatment, I received the plant in a nine-inch pot from a friend from Minnesota. He was in his eighties and cared for his wife who had Parkinson’s disease. The seedling contained four different species of plants; it was green and perfect for my little apartment. I put the plant on a table by the window and watered it every Sunday. As I continued treatment, the plant thrived and eventually bloomed. I, on the other hand, failed. Of course, all the hair fell out, then the neuropathy started, followed by tinnitus, loss of taste and extreme fatigue.

The plant has become my metaphor for change. The sicker I got, the more I developed. It was sublime for me to see the beauty in such a small tank. As the years went by I noticed that the plant was struggling. I tried different locations in the apartment, more water, less water, more sun, less sun, but nothing seemed to work. It was still alive, but with little growth. Several years have passed without even flowering. At the same time, I was changing. My hair grew and like a plant I struggled to stay above the dirt. When I moved to a new apartment, I moved the plant thinking it needed more root space. It remained alive, but still did not bloom and did not sustain growth for long.

Four years after receiving the plant, I moved into the house and put it in the front window. She finally found her happy place. Today, six years after receiving the plant, it sits in a twelve-inch pot, still in the front window. It is twenty-four inches high and extends in a circle of fifty-five inches. The plant blooms at least once a month. The man who sent it to me lost his wife and about a year ago I lost him. The last time I saw him I shared a story about a five year old plant, but I think he barely remembered he sent it.

A plant that served me as a constant reminder that change is always ahead of us. The plant did well, then fought, then did well, then fought and now blooms. The plant served as a constant reminder to me that change is always ahead of us and that as humans we can bloom for days (weeks, months, and even years) and others struggle.

Sometimes I just stand next to the plant and look out the window. As it stands high, so I stand high. I am delighted with its beauty and persistence despite being rumored against it. This fall I looked out the window and saw a tree in the front yard covered with the most spectacular orange leaves I had ever seen and I almost cried. It was just from a postcard in Vermont and I live in North Carolina. It’s February now and there are no leaves, just empty branches. Like a plant, a tree changes. I remind you that they will have new sheets soon. The tree, like my plant, is another illustration of how change is before us, if we just take the time to notice it.

The plant has become my metaphor for change. What will be your metaphor? What can motivate you around you to create, face, accept, and accept change?

Lou is a beer garden, where beer grows

If the definition of a horticulturist is one who works in the disciplines of plant propagation, cultivation, field production and plant cultivation, then a “hop-culturologist” would be a beer grower-master of his domain.

It’s exactly who and what Lou Ramirez is; Very own additional beer master Miami Beaches. Chef and beer lover Luis Ramirez is the person behind this hip and very unique namesake, Lou’s Beer Garden, where all the delicious things are propagated and grown.

Last Saturday night I had the special pleasure of hanging out with my own Epicurean mayor of South Florida, ER Gagit, and his charming wife at Lou’s Beer Garden. When the “Mayor” says we’ll check out this new place, go; don’t ask questions because it will undoubtedly be an experience. And what a night it was! Lou’s Beer Garden is definitely where the locals go; he is very cool, hip and very friendly.

We first started tasting beers from all over the world, every as exotic and wild as their name, Dead Guy Ale, LongBoard, Pilsner Urquell, Double Arrogant Bastard, Raison D’Etre; The mayor’s wife and I emptied ourselves in the evening and got stuck with Shock Top. The Mayor in the right form literally added hair to his chest to his chosen Double Arrogant Bastard, Dead Guy Ale and Old Thumper E.S.A.

For the hip dish, we started with Lou’s special Belgian fries and round Bisque shrimp counters. Both starts were perfect! Who would have ever thought that the “gourmet specialty” at Beer Garden was tucked behind some indescribable historic deco hotel on the North Shore area? Pearls are always hidden in the oyster!

For dinner we had Burgers, Pizza and Tripe. Excellent and typical beer food in Burgers and Pizzas as one would expect, except Tripe? another creepy surprise of this beer and gastro-beer brewery in Miami Beach. So many screws from the blue part, in Lou’s Beer Garden, and I would venture to say that these are Lou’s everyday events and you have to check them out for yourself to truly experience it. The locals go there, and even if it’s not you, they greet you with open arms and huge smiles. They invite you to sit in their garden, unwind and have a beer with them; even throwing a burger on the grill for you, the secret hospitality here at Lou’s Beer Garden just couldn’t get any better than that. Whether you’re from Minnesota, Montana, Maine or Miami, they’ll treat you like a neighbor from Lou’s Beer Garden.

Medical marijuana: an insight into the patient’s journey

To date, medical marijuana has been legalized in the United States in 30 states, including the following:

Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connectiut, Delaware, DC, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusets, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hamshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota , Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and West Virginia.

Each of these states has its own regulations and guidelines on use and qualifications.

Here in Florida, the Medical Marijuana Legalization Initiative, also known as Amendment 2, was adopted on November 8, 2016 for eligible patients under the supervision of a qualified and licensed marijuana physician. Furthermore, this amendment was adopted with a total of 6,518,919 (71.32%) YES votes and 2,621,845 (28.68%) NO.

The federal government has classified marijuana as a List 1 drug, which doctors illegally prescribe marijuana to their patients. These marijuana doctors can make recommendations for medical cannabis under state law that can be valid for up to one year. Patients cannot go to the pharmacy to fill out a prescription for medical marijuana.

Under strict regulations, marijuana doctors are prohibited from associating with any medical cannabis distributors or dispensaries.

Only certain patients who have “attenuated diseases” have legal protection under this amendment. Diseases classified in its provision include PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), chronic muscle cramps, multiple sclerosis, seizures, epilepsy, glaucoma, Crohn’s disease, cancer, HIV / AIDS, ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or Lou Gehrig’s disease) and Parkinson’s .

Although the above ailments are referred to as “primary debilitating conditions,” in this provision, Amendment 2 also indicated: “or any other disease / condition of similar severity / symptom, determined by medical opinion that medical use of marijuana will outweigh any potential health risks.” .

There are currently about 56 known and enumerated marijuana doctors in Florida.

More information and specifics related to this topic can also be obtained from the Florida Health Department website ( on how to become a medical marijuana patient in Florida. More detailed information on Amendment 2 can also be found here.

A few months ago, I came across a Facebook video about a man with Parkinson’s disease who was given a shot of medical cannabis. The before and after videos were pretty impressive. Before treatment, you may see significant shivering, stuttering, and abnormal posture of this man. A very different person is shown after the video. His speech was intelligible and audible. He had no stuttering, shivering, and showed very controlled movements. This man walked and talked as any normal person would. He also shared how it improved his quality of life.

As a physical therapist with exposure to different cultures, I personally have mixed feelings about medical cannabis. However, as a healthcare professional it is quite an epiphany to witness one significant change in my patient with the use of medical cannabis.

G. J. L. with Parkinson’s disease

Mr. J.L. he has been coming to me for more than five years for physical therapy for problems caused by his Parkinson’s disease. Knowing the progressive nature of the disease, I observed how this gentle soul copes with the effects of this exhausting trouble. His primary care physician would refer him for treatment when he began to develop weakness, stiffness, shivering, and most of all balance problems where he reported falling at home.

We would see him each time for about six to eight weeks. We worked to improve his coordination, strength, flexibility and balance, with the primary purpose of making him safe and self-effacing at home, because he lives alone. It is also to keep from falling which predisposes him to more serious injuries and complications.

About a few weeks ago, he came to the office to schedule physical therapy because he was referred again by his doctor. Working with this patient over the years, I have been trying to figure out what has changed in him. I looked and watched carefully as I performed my initial assessment. Maybe he noticed the curiosity that bothered me because he was giving me a smile. I could no longer restrain my curiosity, I asked him, “Mr. J, what were your intentions?” Mr. J just laughed and asked me why curiosity!

Well, it finally occurred to me that Mr. J. almost had a shiver on his right arm where he manifested the typical shiver of this disease. His neck was straight and not moved to the right. Furthermore, his speech was clearer! Another thing that struck me was that he walked better. It’s not great, but he managed to turn around without having to mix what I’ve seen for years.

He finally shared with me that he had started taking medical cannabis for over a month as recommended by his neurologist. His friend apparently mentioned to him a Facebook video about a man with severe Parkinson’s disease. That man received a shot of medical cannabis, and the change was visible after only a few minutes. This apparently prompted him to consult a primary care physician and then a neurologist.

The change I saw with Mr. J after just over a month of consuming medical cannabis is significant. His speech improved. His voice is deeper and more sonorous. He didn’t stutter and controlled his right arm more than the almost non-existent shiver. And he stands straight. His balance and coordination have improved, even more so with the advanced retraining of balance he is currently receiving.

During his therapy sessions, Mr. J was able to bounce the ball on the floor faster with better precision. We saw him catch and catch the ball standing without anyone holding him. We used to stand behind someone and hold him back because he had slow reactions and reflexive reactions. His gait also improved. Just a few months ago, he would have pulled his right leg and walked with a very short stir. He would lose his balance with the slightest attempt to turn or raise his leg to stand on one leg.

These seemingly subtle changes in him in just over a month of using medical cannabis brought significance to his life. He shared that he feels more relaxed and is less worried about the fall. He can perform simple household chores with more confidence and is able to withstand more advanced therapeutic exercises during his physical therapies. She does not feel tired and is able to do multiple tasks during the day.

Mr. J is still on that journey and he wanted to share that experience and for me to tell his story. Knowing him and his background, he is not the type of person who would take marijuana indiscriminately for mere recreation and self-indulgence.

About Mr. J.L.

Mr. J is originally from New York and has moved to Florida. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease approximately seven (7) years ago. He used to be the designer of the very prestigious Chinese manufacturer Syracuse, whose customers include the White House, 5-star hotels and prestigious restaurants. He was also a member of the Barber Shop Quartet as a tenor of SPEBSQSA (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Singing Barber Quartet in America), and participated in several amateur Broadway shows in New York City. He was an art teacher to high school students who taught drawing.

His life changed when he was called up for service sometime in 1986. He connected with a healing service that he found to be mostly with people who have tumors. He traveled abroad to expand his healing ministry. This attracted so much attention that even the media noticed and leaked some information about his ministry. He is now retired and lives in Palm Bay, Florida.

It is a privilege to know this special person who has done so much during his younger days. He devoted so much time and dedication to helping others. I deeply appreciate the humanitarian service provided by Mr. J and how his ministry has touched so many lives. I consider him another unconvinced hero of his time.

His willingness to share me is a clip of his story of privilege. Moreover, being able to work with him to improve his progress and see his motivation and determination over the years is a very inspiring experience.

Mr. J. L.’s personal battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Mr. J, he shared, was officially diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease some seven years ago. He was under the care of an internal medicine doctor who practices in Palm Bay, Florida.

About Parkinson’s disease

As described by Mayo Clinic staff: “Parkinson’s disease is a progressive disease of the nervous system that affects movement. It develops gradually, sometimes with barely noticeable tremor in just one hand. But while tremor may be a well-known sign of Parkinson’s disease, the disorder also it often causes stiffness or slowing of movement. “

Subsequent effects of the disease include the following: a faceless expression also called masked facies or hypomimia, and a decline in speech quality that may be condensed, soft, and even stuttering. These are very common in the patients I have worked with. It also affects the patient’s ability to walk. There is a loss of arm swing due to trunk stiffness, stiffness and ring change strokes resulting from misalignment.

Unfortunately, this disease is progressive and current medications aim to improve symptoms, but not necessarily the cure.

There is currently a lot of research in progress, including surgery to regulate certain areas of the brain and electrostimulation.

However, there is currently no standard treatment, as noted in the National Parkinson’s Foundation.

In addition, medications, lifestyle modifications, exercise, and rest are recommended.

Prescribed medications

Currently prescribed medications include the following: Carbidopa-Levodopa, Carbidopa-Levodopa Infusion, Dopamine Agonists, MAO-B Inhibitors, Catechol-O-Methyltransferase (COMT Inhibitors), Anticholinergics, and Amantadine. Source: Mayo Clinical Organization

Parkinson’s and surgery

Deep brain stimulation procedure (DBS) in a procedure in which electrodes are implanted in certain parts of the brain with a generator implanted in the chest area near the collarbone, which sends impulses to the brain aimed at reducing symptoms. However, it is not a cure and there are many risks and side effects. Both drugs and DBS will not stop the progression of the disease.

Parkinson’s and physical therapy

Physical therapists can work with this type of patient during different stages of the disease. This is primarily due to the functional decline resulting from incoordination, dyskinesia (involuntary movements) and rigidity which makes intentional and spontaneous movements very tiring.

These problems can make even the most basic functions such as feeding, grooming and toileting difficult. Walking becomes very unstable. Promoting walking is very common where it is difficult for them to take the first step (due to bradykinesia – very slow movement), but once they start, it is also very difficult to stop. Many of these patients are at high risk of falling and a large number during the advanced stages become completely dependent on care.

When it comes to physical therapy, educating patients about appropriate exercises, movement strategies, task modification, step training, and fall prevention is part of an overall care plan and functional intervention. They are often referred to as speech therapy for speech and feeding problems, and occupational therapy for basic self-preservation and hand or upper extremity functions.

Mr. J Battle

I first worked with Mr. J about 5 years ago. Although he was not in an advanced stage of the disease at the time, he manifested the primary visible symptoms of the disease: trembling of the hands and neck, masked facies, rigidity, and significant incoordination. He walked very slowly, moved and walked for a long time even from room to room because he was not able to make fast turns. When he turns, he tends to lose his balance and fall. His reflexes were very slow. He barely managed to catch the ball or bounce it. His speech was thick, barely audible, and he had stuttering. He had difficulty ascending and descending simple sidewalks and stairs. He fell from balance problems several times.

Mr. J persevered in the physical therapy program and was always very motivated. For each episode that was referred to us over the years, it was always improved and always followed the specific exercise program we prescribed for it. But due to the progressive nature of the disease, he would have a physical decline and we had to work with him again.

He shared the story of how he first noticed a change in him since Parkinson’s. What he mentioned earlier was when he taught drawing to high school students in his art class in New York. He said it was progressively difficult for him to draw and use his right hand because he developed tremors. The rest followed, including a change in facial expression, stiffness, and a feeling of stiffness all the time. This became progressively worse over the years until his move to Florida.

Once under the care of an internist, he was prescribed Sinemet and other medications he had been taking over the years.

The last time I saw him in treatment was in early 2016 where he had significant shivering in his right arm and involuntary twitching in his neck. His masked facies progressed, his face was almost bearable, and he walked with so much rolling and difficulty. He barely managed to move one leg in front of the other. He also reported falls due to worsening balance problems.

That’s why, in March of this year, I saw him in the significant changes he attributed to medical cannabis.

Medical cannabis: capsules and gums

He further shared his story. Hearing about the potential benefits of medical cannabis for Parkinson’s disease, he consulted with his primary care physician who referred him for further consultation with his neurologist. His neurologist recommended trying medical cannabis because of the advanced nature of his Parkinson’s disease.

Mr. J then started with medical cannabis capsules, where he said it contained about 30 pieces of 25 mg capsules. It cost him about $ 80, including shipping. Along with his shipment came a sample package of rubber versions of about 5 tires in a package. According to him, the capsules were bitter, and he took 1 capsule a day.

He added that after taking the first capsule he had ever felt so relaxed and calm. He could move more easily, get into bed easier, get in better and lean back from the chair. He also noticed that his tremors were much less than the first time.

Mr. J stated that he prefers cannabis gum because it tastes like candy and is tastier than capsules. Moreover, the rubber effect looked much faster than the capsule effect and was much cheaper. Capsules per piece cost about $ 3, and erasers would cost about $ 1 per piece.

To mimic the effect of the erasers, Mr. J said he tried to melt the capsule under his tongue to remove the edge of the bitterness. He also chewed plain bear gum candies. This worked for him.

To this day, Mr. J continues with physical therapy, where we see that he better tolerates and performs high-level balance training tasks that he was not capable of before. He has very little tremor on his right arm, he no longer shows twitching in his neck, and his reflexes have improved. I see it in his ability to make a turn and not lose his balance. We don’t have to hold him as he catches, throws or bounces the ball to improve his protective reflective reflexes that he needs to keep from falling. he can raise his legs more while walking and his mixing is so much less.

Still aware of the progressive nature of this disease, it is only inspiring to see how this very soft, cordial, intelligent and talented individual overcomes the simple everyday functional barriers brought about by this debilitating and irreversible disease.

For a population afflicted with debilitated diseases, the blessing of daily victory in the ability to move and perform tasks that seem trivial to most.

Legalization of medical marijuana is currently and will be in battle in Congress. We all have different views and strong opinions on this issue. Research on its advantages and disadvantages is ongoing. I envision a greater awareness of its existence as an alternative treatment to various diseases that do not respond to conventional medicine and treatment.

However, as a medical professional he fulfills the opportunity to witness functional changes in Mr. J., as he is able to remain independent and self-sufficient despite his disability.

I am currently working on finding an individual who can share with me the negative effects of medical marijuana as well. I would like to contact you and be able to share my journey and experience, of course, anonymously.

Please contact me if you have anything to share.

Greetings for a wonderful day and see you next article!

Mitch Hedberg – still the best

If laughter is the best medicine, that would make the late Mitch Hedberg’s comedy a cure. His style will be hard to define, but best described as a moody single-line continuous line, “as if a friend had predicted it” – “laughing for days”.

“My belt keeps my pants up, but the belt straps lift my belt. I really don’t know what’s going on there. Who’s the real hero?”

Mitchell Lee Hedberg was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on February 24, 1968. Spending the next 6 years in and out of the hospital due to heart problems, Hedberg developed the habit of poor school attendance and never flourished into an ideal student. Barely had he finished high school, Hedberg packed paper bags with his belongings and headed to Florida. Starting his career as an outdoor comedian from a microphone at a local club in Boca Raton, he was bombed several times. Strong stage fear prevented Hedberg from looking directly at his audience, always performing with sunglasses, sometimes with his eyes closed, often allowing his long hair to cover his face. On rare occasions, he would perform with his back to the audience. Hedberg’s unusual way of speaking and unusual behavior only intensified the abrupt delivery of more careless material and helped create his persona on stage as a dissolute stoner. Philosopher of the absurd if you will.

“You know, it hurts me to follow my dreams, man. I’m just going to ask them where they’re going and connect with them later.”

Success was slowly coming for the painfully shy comedian. After advancing his job in the late 80s, he toured the business, although, well accepted, he loved being on the road and used this time to perfect his craft, and overtime work began to gain popularity. His first national exhibition arrived in 1996 at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, which led to the first of ten appearances at the Late Show with David Letterman. A second visit to Montreal in 1998 led to a $ 500,000 deal with Fox that could never be resolved. The people of Fox were not faced with the difficult challenge of creating a suitable platform for Hedberg’s unique musical tunes. A frequent guest on Howard Stern’s morning show, his biography included several television and film roles. By 2000, Time magazine had declared the stand-up comic “the next Seinfeld.”

“I used to do drugs. I still take drugs. But I did it too.”

In February 1999, Hedberg married longtime friend Lynn Shawcroft. In many ways, the relationship was a true love story. They adored each other, and Lynn enjoyed the touring lifestyle as much as Hedberg. The couple became inseparable, creating their own world. The two became known for secrecy and increasingly bizarre behavior. Throughout his career surrounded by rumors of drug use, Hedberg, in addition to the references mentioned during his act, remained closely remembered for the possible problem. His problem is no secret after his arrest in 2003 for possession of a syringe, some heroin and a handful of Valium and Xanax. Shortly after his arrest, Hedberg underwent 13 hours of surgery to save his right leg from an infection that had been fertilizing for months. By 2005, he and Lynn were on tour again, on comics, working hard; his health began to decline.

The comic was found dead in his hotel room in Livingston, New Jersey, on March 29, 2005. His death was initially believed to be related to his heart condition was later confirmed as a drug overdose from a mixture of heroin and cocaine. Hedberg loved his life as a comic book, adored monster movies and, ironically, the existence of Kurt Cobain – Courtney Love with his wife Lynn.

“I was walking down the street the other day when he asked me if I wanted a frozen banana … I said ‘no,’ but then I thought I might want a plain banana later, so … yes.”

Hedberg, trying out the new material, passed on his jokes slowly and deliberately, line by line, as if waiting for approval from the audience before delivering the drilling line. He usually already had. Brilliant.

Sun Country Airlines and American Airlines: The smartest way to fly is with them!

Sun Country Airlines is a low-cost U.S. airline based in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul suburb of Eagan, Minnesota. It is based at the nearby Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport. The airline’s main focus is flying people to warmer destinations during the winter months, such as Florida and Mexico.

Accordingly, the summer months focus on flying people between Minneapolis and the east and west coasts. It operates scheduled and charter flights to destinations in the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean. Sun Country offers ensure that your holiday starts the moment you decide to get Sun Country Airlines tickets, because they offer a completely carefree trip. Trust us, when we say this, it is almost inevitable that you will decide to fly with them continuously, because no other leading airline offers such competitive prices and certainly no one can match the bar they set up.

We can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t appreciate cheap plane tickets. Air Country airlines offer exactly the same, but with the added benefits of a luxurious flight experience. Basic ride prices are made solely keeping in mind the budget constraints of the passengers. What’s more compelling is that Sun Country Airlines emphasizes the fact that passenger comfort comes first and that they don’t leave a stone’s throw away from achieving that.

American Airlines planes, otherwise simply known as “American,” are probably the most desirable flights in the United States. American Airlines airline tickets offer tracking services for your bags from your smartphone, laptop and tablet, which will save you from the hassle of waiting in long lines and wasting time, for luggage. They also introduced new aircraft with better entertainment options, which will ensure that you are not bored during the flight.

One of the many things a ‘flying American’ will do for you is that it will give you access to baggage allowance changes, all new phishing email alerts, and the ability to turn miles into happy memories with your Advantage program. American Airlines, Inc. is a feature of strength in numbers because it is the world’s largest airline in terms of passenger measurements, revenue, fleet size and second in the number of destinations visited.

American Airline flights are also extremely environmentally friendly, as they have a wastewater treatment plant that recycles aircraft washing water, landscape irrigation, and flushing water tank processing. This has led to a 50% reduction in waste material since 2000. This is a win-win situation for anyone looking to take advantage of the services of major airlines with the added benefit of knowing that the airline is returning to the environment. Reservations, boarding and arrivals made American Airlines extremely easy. You can check flight status, safety and data collection if and when you want. They are truly committed to providing a pleasant experience to all their customers. Their services are of the highest quality and are essential for a comfortable trip with the added benefit of fairly cheap airline tickets.

Casey Stengel, throwing manager at the New York Yankees

In a sport known for its vivid characters, Casey Stengel was unique. Stengel was an imaginative prankster, possessing one of the best baseball minds ever. Stengel was just as likely to lie the magic of the referee’s call as he was to win a critical game in a critical situation.

From his teenage years to his final days as manager of the New York Mets, Stengel lived his entire life in baseball. 12 times he was an above-average major league player over 12 seasons and the most successful manager to ever meet a player rating. But not only did his success bring admiration to millions, but his dear personality won out. His warmth, toughness and his memorable monologues made him the most beloved character since Babe Ruth. Some of the terms that have become part of the baseball lore include “worm killers,” meaning low balls, “plumber,” meaning a good fire player, and “travel apple,” meaning a bad baseball player. A true legend, like Casey Stengel, the wise clown of baseball, will never be seen in sports again.

How good was Stengel? In a 12-year run with New York, the Yankees Casey won 1,149 games (compared to just 696 losses), won 10 flags and 7 World Championships. Hall of Fame director Connie Mack once said of Stengel, “I’ve never seen a man play so much catch so successfully.”

Not only was Casey Stengel known as an eccentric but also a likeable manager, he was also known as the manager behind his players. Elston Howard (the first black player the Yankees ever signed) deserved Stengel to help him overcome racial barriers. Casey Stengel would tell hotel managers that if Howard was not welcome at their facilities, he would not allow any of the Yankee players to stay there.
